About the project at Arncliffe Road
A new extra care facility was created for the Arncliffe Road development in Halewood. Built on the site of the former Cherry Tree Children’s Centre, this project involved constructing affordable apartments for residents over the age of 55. These 77 apartments are designed with accessibility in mind, particularly for later living, and are available at affordable prices. The development also involved the creation of a salon, bistro, treatment room, and communal lounge, as well as staff facilities, landscaping, car parking and guest suites for visitors.
Our role in the project
Here at Enviroply Roofing, we were delighted to install a fully adhered, IKO Polymeric Armourplan roofing system for this development. We began the installation on 30/01/2023.
The Air and Vapour Control Layer (AVCL) was the first stage of our roofing build up, and for this, we installed the IKO Ultra AVCL. This is a trusted AVCL option that can protect the roofing system from condensation, and rot, associated with moisture build up. Made with an impervious aluminum core, and reinforced with a tough polyester base, this polymer-modified bitumen coated AVCL offers a high level of protection and complete air-tightness. This is a self adhesive option, which was also perfect for our fully adhered roofing installation.
For the next stage of the roofing creation process, we installed the insulation layer. For this, we used IKO PIR tapered Insulation boards. These are the perfect complimentary choice for IKO roofing systems in general, offering exceptional thermal insulation for any property, including residential and commercial projects. These insulation boards are tapered, which allowed us to create the correct fall gradient for the roof. This allows for the effective drainage of water from the surface of the roof. This can prevent ponding problems with flat roofing systems. The boards are also incredibly durable and resilient, made from expanded polystyrene for maximum thermal efficiency.
Finally, we completed the roofing build up with the installation of the IKO Armourplan PSG single ply membrane. As a robust and durable single ply membrane, this option offers a high level of tensile strength. This also offers fantastic UV protection. This membrane is polyester reinforced which offers longevity and a high level of performance in all weather conditions, making it the perfect choice for the Arncliffe Road development.
The result at Arncliffe Road
Our roofing installation was completed on 29/09/2023. The project went well and was completed to a high standard, achieving the requirements for a 20-year guarantee.
