Our role in the project:

As leading roofing experts, we installed a top notch single ply, Sika roofing system for Cheshire College South and West. We started this installation on the 11/04/2022.

We began the roofing installation with the Vapour Control Layer (VCL), for which we used the Sarnavap 5000E. This is a self adhesive VCL which offers a very high level of water vapour resistance, helping to protect the roof deck and roof components from build ups of moisture and damage from condensation. This VCL is renowned for its robust durability and longevity, which makes it the perfect choice for long lasting roofing protection and quality. This is the number one VCL choice for both commercial and domestic properties in the UK.

Once the VCL layer was in place and secure, we then installed the insulation layer. For this we used Sikatherm PIR GT Insulation boards. These are rigid boards that are faced on both sides with a wet lay coated glass fibre tissue. This is bonded to the insulation core during the manufacturing process which allows this insulation choice to deliver a very high standard of thermal efficiency and performance. This helps to reduce the heat lost from the building during the winter months, and prevents the temperature inside the building from rising too much in the summer. This can be essential for keeping the energy bills at the college low and reasonable all year round. As well as its thermal efficiency abilities, this insulation board also offers a high level of robust durability for long lasting performance.

Finally, to complete the roofing system, we installed the Sika Sarnafil G410-15ELF membrane. As a synthetic roof waterproofing membrane with multiple layers for maximum UV resistance and stability, this membrane delivers a high level of waterproofing to protect the roof system. This is also fully wind and weatherproof, and is resistant to environmental and animal damage. The installation of this membrane completed the roofing system and was secured within a fully adhered system.

The result:

The installation of the new roofing system at Cheshire College South and West was completed on the 22/08/2022. This went well and was completed to a high standard. All parties were happy with the results and the requirements for a 20 year guarantee were achieved.
