Our role in the project:
As the number one choice for roofing installations in the North West, here at Enviroply Roofing, we installed the new roofing system for the extension at Firwood High School. We began the installation on 07/06/2021.
To begin the roofing installation, we installed the Sarnavap HD self-adhesive vapour control layer. This is a vapour control layer that has a strong track record of durability and effectiveness, providing a high level of performance for heavy duty projects, like this one at Firwood High School. The Sarnavap HD is composed of bitumen mixed with polymers, sand, and an inlay of glass and aluminium composite.
Following this, we installed the insulation layer. For this, we used tapered Sikatherm PIR GT Insulation boards. The tapered design of these boards is perfect for creating the right gradient for rainwater run-off and effective drainage, which is something we needed for the extension roof at Firwood High School. This is faced on both sides with a coated glass tissue which is bonded to the insulation core creating insulation boards that are tough and durable while also being lightweight. This was fully adhered to the roof surface, using Sika C250 spray or SikaRoof® Adhesive 200, in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and guidelines, for outstanding results.
To complete the roofing system we installed the Sika Sarnafil G410-18EL single ply membrane. This is a long lasting, high performing single ply roofing option that has a lacquered matt finish, a glass fibre reinforced inlay, and polyester fleece backing, for highly effective roof waterproofing. In addition, this membrane also contains ultraviolet light stabilisers to ensure colour stability and long lasting visual effectiveness, as well as excellent fire resistance. This was fully adhered into position to be held securely in line with manufacturers guidelines.
The result at Firwood High School:
We completed the installation on the 07/03/2022 and the project went well. The work was completed to a very high standard, meeting the terms for a 20 year guarantee.
