About the Seacombe Ferry project:

The Seacombe Ferry development in the Wirral, saw the creation of 28 new apartments, across 4 storeys, called Ferry Court. These are both one and two bedroom apartments, and all are available for affordable rent. The new development stands as a striking landmark feature from the Liverpool waterfront, and the Mersey, and many of the homes boast stunning views. The development has been landscaped, and undercroft parking has been included as part of the development works.

Our role in the project:

As the leading roofing experts in the North West, here at Enviroply Roofing, we installed the IKO Armourplan roofing system for the Seacombe Ferry development. We began working on this project on 20/06/2023.

We began the installation process with the vapour control layer (VCL). This is an essential component designed to prevent condensation from building up and causing the roof deck or materials to rot or decompose, by controlling the moisture that can enter and exit. For this reason, we installed the IKO Spectravap PE. This is a VCL that offers a cost effective and rapid installation option, while also providing a high level of moisture control and protection for the roofing system at the Seacombe Ferry development. This was installed with the end and side laps, and the margins near the upstands and kerbs, being overlapped and sealed with Spectravap Jointing Tape for maximum protection and security that will last for years to come.

Following this, we then installed the insulation layer. This is a crucial component of any roofing system, with the insulation layer helping to maintain a comfortable temperature within the building, all year round. For this reason, the insulation layer needs to manage the thermal efficiency of the space, in order to keep the interior of the building warmer in winter and cooler in summer. As a result, we installed Enertherm GOLD PIR insulation boards for the Seacombe Ferry development. These boards are highly effective and designed with performance in mind. With seven layers to ensure the highest level of thermal efficiency, these boards offer fantastic stability and lower lambda values than other competitors. The boards are aluminum coated on both sides, and are gas tight, for a fantastic thermal performance, all year round, and a high level of compression strength.

To complete the roofing system we then installed the IKO Armourplan P single ply Membrane. This is a top quality, high performing waterproofing membrane that offers an increased tensile strength and holistic roofing protection, resisting animal and environmental damage, weather damage and offering complete UV stability. This was installed on top of the insulation layer, and mechanically fixed into place for maximum roof security, in line with manufacturers guidelines.

The result at Seacombe Ferry

Our work on the Seacombe Ferry development was completed on 05/09/2023, to a very high standard, meeting the requirements for a 25 year guarantee.
