About the project:
The development at Ardwick Green will see the creation of 16, three storey townhouses, just a moment’s walk away from Manchester city centre. Overlooking the picturesque Ardwick Green Park and its neighbouring Grade II-listed St.Thomas Centre, the homes have been designed to complement the existing area, in exterior style and design. These homes will range from 3 to 4 bedrooms and will be designed with eco-friendly and energy efficient commitments in mind. As part of this, each home will have Air Source Heat Pumps, MVHR systems and photovoltaic panels.
Our role in the project:
Here at Enviroply Roofing we will be installing Protan roofing systems for these new homes at Ardwick Green. This will include the main roof, and roofing systems for both the second and first floor terraces.
For both the roof terraces and the main roof, our installation will begin with the Air and Vapour Control Layer (AVCL), for which we will be using the Protan Polyethylene Vapour Control Membrane. This is an age-resistant barrier that can stop the spread of moisture through compact roof structures as well as walls and floors, preventing moisture from entering the building and preventing damage from this. All joints will be fully sealed for continuous protection.
Following the vapour control membrane, we will then install the insulation layer for both the main roof and the roof terraces. For this, Kingspan by Protan will be used. These are rigid Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation boards that have a high level of thermal performance; preventing heat from being lost through the roof in winter, and keeping the new homes on Cotter Street a comfortable temperature all year round.
We will complete the main roof with the Protan SE. This is a reinforced, flexible PVC membrane with a textured, slip resistant surface, that can deliver exceptional performance for unmatched reliability and long lasting durability.
For the first and second floor roof terraces we will complete the roofing build up by installing the Protan G1.8 flexible PVC membrane. This is a glass fibre reinforced single ply membrane that is designed with longevity and quality in mind. It’s durability and resistance make it perfect for usable roof terraces, like those for the Cotter Street development. This has a textured, slip resistant surface for maximum security and safety.
