About the project at Creams Mill:

The Creams Mill development at Little Lever in Bolton is a canalside residential development that will see the creation of almost 300 mixed-tenure, new-build properties. This development will be split across three sites along the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal, from Hall Lane to Creams Mill, and will also involve regenerating the canal, bringing part of the canal back into use.

The homes developed will include both 2 and 3 bedroom properties, with spacious and well designed living rooms, bathrooms and kitchens, gardens, and energy efficient energy systems. Each property will also have parking space.

This residential development is in a fantastic location, offering canalside walks, close proximity to the Moses Gate Country Park, as well as to local shops and amenities in the heart of Little Lever. The area is also well connected for commuters with bus stops for Manchester city centre just five minutes walk away.

Our role in the Creams Mill project:

Here at Enviroply Roofing, we will be installing a number of roofing systems for properties across the Creams Mill development. Many of the properties have varying roof sizes and bay windows which means that perimeter trim and flashing, and abutment wall flashing and insulation, will also be installed. For these roofing systems, we will be using an Alumasc Alkorplan system.

The Air and Vapour Control Layer (AVCL) is one of the most important factors of any warm roofing system, where it plays a crucial role in water vapour management. This is designed specifically to prevent the build up and permeation of water vapour or condensation, which can erode and damage parts of the roofings system if left unchecked. For the Creams Mill development, we will be installing the Alumasc VCL, which offers a high level of performance and longevity for property security.

Following the AVCL, we will then install the insulation layer. Essential for preventing the loss of heat through the roof, and also for reducing heat absorption during the summer months, roofing insulation plays a key part in keeping homes warm and comfortable all year round. This is also crucial for an energy efficient property. For the Creams Mill development, we will be using 150mm Alumasc FF insulation boards. These are specifically designed with a rigid urethane core that is faced on both sides with a composite foil, for maximum insulation performance.

Finally, we will complete the roofing systems with the installation of a waterproof membrane. This will be installed on top of the AVCL and insulation layer to protect the roofing system from the weather, and from UV damage. For the homes at Creams Mill, we will install the Alumasc Alkorplan membrane. This is a thermoplastic PVC-P membrane, which has a proven track record of over 40 years. Renowned for its high level of performance, durability, UV resistance, flexibility, and strength, this is a membrane that will protect Creams Mill homes for years to come.
