About the project:
The development at Green Street will be a mixed use site, which will see the creation of 132 new apartments, commercial units, a bar, and office space for a major company. This will involve creating 3 buildings, with apartments making up the whole of Building B and C, as well as part of Building A. Building B for example will have 53 affordable flats for rent, while building C will consist of 44 rent to buy apartments. This will bring much needed, affordable housing to Radcliffe, as well as boosting the local economy.
Our role in the Green Street development:
Here at Enviroply Roofing, our expert team will be installing Alumasc systems for the main roof, the first floor roof, and for the roof terraces. We will be using different build up options for different roofs.
For the main roof and the first floor roof, we will be installing an Alumasc Alkorplan roofing system.
To begin this roofing build up, we will first install the Alumasc Polyethylene AVCL. This is an Air and Vapour Control Layer (AVCL) that is made of polyester reinforced bitumen, with a polyethylene film on the underside that can be removed, an aluminum core, and a fine mineral surface. For the development of residential properties, this is an AVCL option that can be very effective. This product offers outstanding durability, product strength, and fantastic protection from moisture build up and condensation. This will be loosely laid, with the overlaps jointed with Alumasc butyl tape for additional security and protection.
We will then install the insulation for the roofing system, which will be the Alumasc Cut to Falls FF PIR Insulation. This is an insulation option that offers a high level of thermal efficiency and a top level of performance. This is designed to create a gradient on the roof, allowing water to be transported to the correct drainage system. This insulation is faced with low emissivity composite foil, which makes it perfect for the development at Green Street, keeping the temperature within the property comfortable at all times of the year, preventing overheating in the summer, and preventing the loss of heat in the winter. This will be mechanically fixed into place.
To complete the main roof and the first floor roof we will finally install the Alkorplan F PVC Single-Ply membrane by Alumasc. This is a membrane that offers an incredible level of waterproofing, weatherproofing, and all round high performance, due to its reinforcement with woven polyester. This will keep the roofing buildup free from damage caused by animals and weather, protecting the roof system from problems and issues. We will mechanically fix this into position.
For the roof terraces on Block B and Block C, we will be installing the Alumasc Derbigum Built-up Felt System.
We will begin this installation with the vapour control layer, for which we will be using the Euroroof Self-Adhesive AVCL. This is a polymer modified bituminous waterproofing membrane that is perfect for use with built up roof systems, preventing water and condensation from causing damage to the underlying roofing system. This is specifically designed for a flame free installation, and for maximum performance with felt roofing systems. This AVCL is self adhesive for maximum security and protection.
This will be followed by the insulation layer, for which we will be installing the Tapered Alumasc BGT PIR Insulation. This is a tapered insulation option that can be perfect for creating a fall gradient, allowing water to be taken away from the roof, and preventing problems with ponding and water build up. These insulation boards are faced with bitumen glass fleece on both sides, for a high level of thermal efficiency. These boards will be bonded by Euroroof PU Insulation Adhesive.
For the final layer of the roofing system we will install the Derbigum High Performance Membrane. This is an Alumasc roofing option that uses an underlay and a cap sheet to deliver an exceptional level of waterproofing and roof protection. These will also be mechanically fixed into position.
