Secured Project – Masjid E Rizwan Mosque

Masjid E Rizwan Mosque
We are delighted to be working with the Kokni Muslim Association on the development of Masjid E Rizwan Mosque in Blackburn, here at Enviroply Roofing. For this we will be installing a  Sikaplan single ply roofing system.

About the project at Masjid E Rizwan Mosque:

As one of the oldest Mosques in Blackburn, the Masjid E Rizwan Mosque is undergoing the process of being rebuilt and extended, to accommodate up to 450 worshippers at a time. This will also include worshipping floorspace for men and women, as well as improved facilities for washing, funeral preparation facilities, an IT room and library, storage space and an office. As an integral part of the local community since the 1970’s, this development will provide invaluable extra space and an attractive exterior in line with the local Furthergate area, which has also seen redevelopment in recent years.

Our role in the project at Masjid E Rizwan Mosque:

Here at Enviroply Roofing, we will be installing a mechanically fixed, Sikaplan, single ply roofing system for the Masjid E Rizwan Mosque development.

This will begin with the installation of the Vapour Control Layer (VCL), which is responsible for preventing the movement of water vapour through the roof deck, protecting the roof from condensation and water build up. For this development, the Sarnavap 500E VCL will be used. This is a fantastic choice for this development as it offers longevity, flexibility, durability and a high level of water vapour resistance, allowing for maximum roof security.

Once the vapour control layer is in place, we will then be installing the insulation layer. This is responsible for insulating the property, keeping the heat in in winter, and keeping the heat out in the summer, for comfortable indoor temperatures all year round. This also helps to keep heating costs down. Tapered Sikatherm PIR GT insulation boards will be used for this project. These are boards that are faced on both sides with coated glass tissue, which helps to maximise their thermal properties. This is bonded to the insulation core for increased strength and durability. The insulation boards are also tapered so that one end is wider than the other, allowing a slight gradient to be achieved for effective rainwater drainage on the flat roof.

Finally, we will complete the project by installing the single ply waterproofing membrane. For the Masjid E Rizwan Mosque we will be installing the Sikaplan G 18 membrane. This is a popular and effective synthetic roof waterproofing sheet, based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is polyester reinforced, with multiple layers, containing ultraviolet light stabilisers and flame retardant. This membrane option is renowned for its ability to provide UV resistance, permanent wind exposure resistance, and protection from all common environmental influences. This will be mechanically fixed into place, delivering maximum protection for the whole roofing system.
