About the project:
The development at Tatton Road will see a former masonic hall and police station in Sale, transformed into 30 affordable homes. This will involve refurbishing the former Sale Police Station, as well as replacing Sale Masonic Hall with a three-storey residential complex. This will create ten, one, two and three bedroom houses, as well as nine three bedroom apartments, and eleven two bedroom apartments. All of these will be available for shared ownership, helping to address the affordable housing shortage in Trafford.
With easy access to Sale Town Centre, and Sale Metrolink station, these properties will be in a fantastic location and will each have cycle storage facilities.
Our role in the project:
Here at Enviroply Roofing, we will be installing the roofing systems for the Tatton Road development, which will have two roof blocks. We will be using the same Sikaplan roofing system for both of the blocks.
We will begin with the installation of the SikaShield VB AVCL. Designed with longevity and performance in mind, this is an ACVL that is made of modified bitumen, and reinforced with aluminium foil and a dimensionally stable non-woven polyester inlay. This allows for a high level of water resistance, especially to water vapour diffusion, protecting the roofing system and components from rot caused by water build up. As such, it will be the perfect choice for the Tatton Road development.
Following the AVCL layer, we will then install the insulation layer. For this development, we will be installing a 240mm insulation layer, made from 140mm Ecotherm Innobond, and 100mm of Kingspan TR27. This will provide the perfect level of depth, as well as an outstanding level of thermal insulation, preventing the property from losing heat in the winter, and from gaining too much heat in the summer. This can help to reduce energy bills throughout the year.
Finally, we will complete the roofing system of both block A and B with the installation of the Sikaplan SGK single ply membrane. This is an incredibly stable, UV resistant single ply membrane that is created with a glass fleece inlay to improve performance and lifespan. This membrane is also resistant to environmental influences for increased roofing longevity and protection.
