About the project at Willow Court:
The Willow Court project is a development of 119 apartments for residential sale. These will be created on land within a short walking distance of The University of Salford and Salford Crescent Train Station, offering quick and easy access to major stations like Manchester Victoria, Manchester Piccadilly, and Manchester Airport.
These apartments will have a stylish exterior, designed with red brick facing to complement the historic context of the area. Inside, each apartment will be finished to a very high standard, with three cores and a central corridor to create an efficient layout.
Our role in the project:
Here at Enviroply Roofing we will be installing four roof systems for the Willow Court project. These will include the main roof, two roof terraces of different sizes, and an entrance canopy.
For the main roof and roof terraces we will begin with the installation of the Air and Vapour Control Layer (AVCL). This is an essential component of any warm roofing system, as the AVCL controls the amount of water vapour that can enter and exit the roof, preventing the build up of condensation, and helping to protect other roof elements from rotting. For each of these we will be using the IKO Spectravap PE vapour control layer. This is well established in the roofing industry as a high quality ACVL that can effectively restrict moisture build up, while also being cost effective and comparatively quick to install.
Following the ACVL, we will then install the insulation layer for the main roof and the roof terraces. The IKO Enertherm Tapered Insulation boards have been selected for this project. These boards have a hard core and are laminated on both sides with a perforated coated glass fabric for a fantastic thermal performance. These top quality insulation boards can not only stop heat from escaping from the property through the roof, or from absorbing into the building in the height of summer, these are also tapered. This tapering means that one side of the board is thicker or deeper than the other, which can help to create the perfect fall or gradient for the roof to carry away rainwater safely and effectively. This makes these boards the perfect option for both the main roof and the roof terraces at Willow Court.
Finally, we will be installing the single ply membrane to complete the roofing build up. For all of the roof areas, we will be using the IKO Armourplan P membrane in a slate grey. This is a high-quality waterproofing membrane that is well known for its functionality, as well as its aesthetic design. This will be installed on top of the insulation and vapour control layers to provide a high level of protection from the elements, UV, and weather, as well as from animal activity. The robust, enhanced tensile strength that this membrane offers is also an important factor for its quality performance.
