We are currently recruiting a Trainee Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our growing and dynamic team in Chorley.
Company Overview
Enviroply Roofing is a flat roofing company working throughout the North West. We predominantly install Single Ply in the commercial and industrial sectors, whilst also taking on larger domestic projects.
Key Duties
- Take enquiries from main contractors / customers via email and telephone, gathering all relevant information such as drawings, specs etc and responding in a timely and professional manner
- Attend sites for meetings and surveys and document all required information as and when required
- Understand scope of work, complete take-offs from drawings and produce a bill of quantities
- Compute costs by analysing labour, material and time requirements
- Negotiate prices with suppliers
- Prepare and submit accurate and detailed tenders / quotes from documentation provided and / or site surveys using estimating software
- Chase up tenders / quotes submitted requesting feedback on our submission
- Generate enquiries and new business through existing contacts and develop relationships with new contacts, attending meetings / events as may be required
- Keep Director and company records up to date in relation to tenders / quotes submitted and feedback received
- Attend pre and post tender meetings as and when required
- Maintain up to date costs in the estimating software
- Other duties as required to support the team e.g. H&S, materials ordering, general project administration / management
- Carry out all duties in line with company procedures and industry standards
- Develop and maintain own technical knowledge, supported fully by the company
Skills / Qualifications required for role
- BTEC Level 3 in Construction
- Estimating and tender writing skill (Desirable)
- Ability to read architectural / structural drawings
- Construction industry experience (Desirable)
- A knowledge of Health and Safety
- CSCS card holder (Desirable)
- Highly motivated and able to use own initiative
- Able to plan and prioritise own workload / diary
- High level of attention to detail
- Accurate numeracy skills and enjoy working with numbers
- A methodical approach to working
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- IT literate, proficient in the use of MS Office
- Teamworking, able to place needs of the company over own
- Full UK Driving Licence and use of own vehicle (Desirable)
- A keen interest in construction
